WENTCOURT KENNELS

Karli is from Ketti's last litter by Faidros Xerife e Castanho of Clerafora an impressive imported brindle, along with her 9 brothers and sisters they were born 7th February 1999, and after a lot of should we or shouldnt we, we decided to keep a brindle for ourselves. She is an absolute dream, a typical daddy's girl and she just looks at you with her lovely big eyes when she has done something wrong.

Karli wasnt very successful at the shows, she did well but many judges were not sure what to do about her colouring as at that time there were not that many brindles being shown.  However, she did enjoy going around and meeting all the people and the other dogs, she was very excited when we got her lead out ready and if she had to stay at home, well the eyes would tell us everything.

Karli's first and only litter were born in 2001, 10 pups in all, but she had a normal birth not like her poor mum. The second night we lost one of the little boys, he had been the runt of the litter and it was not meant to be but it left Karli with 3 girls and 6 boys.  We again were considering keeping a lovely brindle bitch which we had named Beauty but after a lot of talking and realisation, we decided that we should let her go to a new home where she has settled and is now living with her own son and a new name.  The others also went to very good new pet homes and our dear friend Diana Curtis ended up with yet another of our pups, Elise.

Karli however had a very severe set back, she lost all her coat and became very ill.  After some biopsy's were taken and blood tests, x-rays etc, it was discovered that she had Hair follicle dysplasia, a form of allopica.  We were devestated but did not worry too much, it was not a life threatening disease so therefore we continued with her antibiotics (as and when she needed them) and had her spade.  We decided that although it was not a hereditory condition, we would still not breed from her and also informed all the puppy owners of her condition.

Today 5th November 2008 our beloved Karli kissed us goodbye for the very last time and left us to join her mum and brother. Good night sweet angel and god bless.....................................
