WENTCOURT KENNELS

Maggie, or the Maggot to her friends came to us from our very dear friend Mark Hales of the Markenfield rough collies and although I promised myself that I would never have another rough (unless of course it was a blue merle), gave in as soon as I saw her.

She is so full of energy and has certainly put the estrelas in their place especially if they get too close to her food but she also respects the fact that they are a whole lot bigger than her and she can certainly get out of the way if they start playing a little too rough.

Maggie had her first show at 6 months over in Bristol where she competed against 8 other pups and came out with a 4th, to say we were pleased was understatement as she had not had any ring craft training and it was her very first show.

On January 13th 2008 we took Maggie with us to The Welsh Kennel Club open show and were pleased with her when she took a very good second in the Junior class but then went on to take the Best Puppy in Breed award. This was a lovely surprise as we thought she wasn't going to get it as the other pups were much older than her and so in she went for the challenge for Best Puppy in Group. What a surprise again when she went and won that, wow it was the icing on the cake but thats as far as she went, but never mind it was a great achievement.

We hope to be taking her to some of the Championship shows this year and although we dont expect a lot, we know we will always be taking home the Best collie on the day home with us but then after her achievements - Who Knows..........
